Paul F. Zwiebel, 91, of Wapakoneta, passed away at 11:39 p.m. Thursday, June 29, 2017 at Lima Memorial Health System, Lima.
He was born on July 30, 1925 in Pusheta Township to Jacob & Marie (Kohler) Zwiebel who preceded him in death. On August 24, 1947 he married Dona M. Schumann and she survives.
They were blessed with 6 children: Paula (Don) Reese of Wapakoneta; Kathy (Steve) Simon of Canfield, OH; Lynne (Chuck) Lawson of Lima; Julie (Ron) Rupert of Whitesboro, TX; Jeff (Judy) Zwiebel of Wapakoneta; Jayne (Dave) Roth of Camden, MI; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert (Evelyn) Zwiebel; a sister Maxine (Melvin) Gossard and two great-grandchildren.
Paul attended the Keller School on Cemetery Road and was a lifelong farmer. He was proud to serve his country during World War II in the U.S. Army in the Pacific Rim. He was a faithful and lifetime member of St. Johns Lutheran Church, Pusheta Rd., Wapakoneta. He was also a founding member of the V.F.W. Post 8445. He enjoyed gardening, mushroom hunting and was an avid raccoon hunter. Most of all he especially loved his family.
Funeral services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 3, 2017 at St. Johns Lutheran Church, Pusheta Rd., Wapakoneta with Pastor Karl Frincke officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery with military rites being performed by the V.F.W. Post 8445. Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Sunday at Schlosser Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Wapakoneta and 1 hour prior to the church on Monday.
