Joseph E. Bell

Joseph Eugene Bell, 93, of Lexington, KY, formerly of Wapakoneta, passed away on Monday, August 13, 2018 in Lexington, KY.  He was born on May 17, 1925 in Pemberton, Ohio to the late Herbert and Martha Bell.  He was married to Lucille Margaret Knoch for almost 70 years and she passed away on December 27, 2016.

He is survived by daughters; Sharon Bell (William Zeilinger) of Big Rapids, MI, Debra Bullock of Lexington, KY, a son, Timothy (Tally) Bell of Wichita, KS; 4 grandchildren, Jason, Joseph, Tommy, Erin; 4 great grandchildren, Sophia, Gianna, Anthony, Joseph and a sister, Cleo King.

He was preceded in death by 3 brothers Arthur, Richard, and Gerald and one grandson David.

Joseph and his family resided in Miamisburg and Centerville, Ohio from 1953 until 1988. Joseph graduated from Pemberton High School in Pemberton, Ohio in 1943.  He was a WWII veteran and served in European theater and he was a television production engineer for WLW-D in Dayton, Ohio until his retirement in 1989.  Joseph and Lucille retired to Lucille's ancestral home near Gutman, Ohio, later moving to Wapakoneta, Ohio and then Lexington, Kentucky. During their retirement they were both active in volunteer work through the NOMADS of the Methodist Church for 18 years. In his spare time, he enjoyed woodworking and other crafts that he worked on with his wife, Lucille.

Funeral services will begin at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, August 18, 2018 at Schlosser Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Wapakoneta with Rev. David Gordon officiating.  Burial will follow at Mt. Tabor Cemetery, Gutman with military rites being performed by the V.F.W. Post 8445.  Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.  

 In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to the United Methodist Church NOMADS.
