Mary M. “Mae” Cartmell, 92, of Wapakoneta passed away on Friday, November 10, 2017 at The Gardens, Wapakoneta.

She was born on November 4, 1925 to Fred and Lydia (Metzger) Sheipline in Wapakoneta. Her have parents preceded her in death.

On June 1, 1948 she married Tom Cartmell and he preceded her in death in September 18, 2012.

Mae worked several jobs over the years, including: First National Bank, Wapakoneta, Moulton School, and she retired from Pepsi in Lima.  Although those were the jobs she received a paycheck from, she was dedicated to doing the Lord’s work.  At her church, First United Methodist, she was very active on many committees and prayer groups. She felt a calling to do the Lord’s work in the community where she worked on the Election Board for many years as a presiding judge, Uniopolis Jamboree working and providing pies, and the one activity she was dedicated to was God’s Storehouse.  She served as secretary to the original group when they were forming God’s Storehouse in 1982.  She has continued to serve that group as best she could when health permitted.  Because she was so dedicated to God’s Storehouse, she was selected to be a Jefferson Award winner in 2009.

She is survived by a daughter, Vicky Cartmell, who has many precious memories of her mother.  She is also survived by several close nieces and nephew; Sandra, Debra, and Marsha Orr of Mackinac Island, Michigan, Nancy O’Dell of Chandler, Arizona, Robert (Ingrid) Sheipline of Sacramento, California, Sondra (Mark) Temple and their children, Felicia, and Sean Temple of Mesa, Arizona.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Morgan of Chandler, Arizona; and a brother, Carl Sheipline, Sacramento, California; a sister-in-law and a brother-in-law, Dr Rex Orr and Elizabeth Cartmell Orr of Mackinac Island.

She has left behind many relatives and friends who were often in her thoughts and prayers.

Memorial services will begin at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at Schlosser Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Wapakoneta.  Justin McCall will be officiating.  Burial will be at a later date at Greenlawn Cemetery, Wapakoneta.  Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the service.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to God’s Storehouse, P.O. Box 72, Wapakoneta, Ohio 45895.
