Barry A. Kiefer

Barry A. Kiefer, 65, of Wapakoneta, passed away at 8:22 a.m., Wednesday, May 15, 2024 at his residence, surrounded by his family after an extended illness.  He was born on June 26, 1958 in Lima, to Dan W. and Jera L. (VanDyke) Kiefer, who have preceded him in death.  On May 5, 2000, he married Vicki J. Brewer, who passed away on December 26, 2011.

Survivors include two sisters, Leena M. (Robert) Harford, of Lakeview, and Stephanie L. (Jeff) Drexler, of Wapakoneta; five nieces and nephews, Erica Drexler, Dana (Chad) Moore, Jeff (Jen) Drexler Jr., Jacob (Lindsey) Drexler, and Danielle Meeker; 16 great-nieces and nephews; a grandson, Chase; and life-long friends, Terri and Jeff VanMeter, of Wapakoneta.

Barry was preceded in death by his brother, Danny Kiefer.

A 1977 graduate of Wapakoneta High School, Barry worked for over thirty years at Ametek.  In his free time, he enjoyed trying his luck at the casino, bowling, hunting, and fishing, especially at Lake Erie.  Although those were his hobbies, he was happiest spending time with his family.  Cookouts and campfires were the highlight of their time together and the source of many memories.  He also enjoyed traveling to the Smokey Mountains with family and watching football games together, especially if The Ohio State Buckeyes or the Cleveland Browns were playing.  Barry was the rock of his family and his nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews were the treasures of his heart.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.  Memorial contributions may be directed to the Cleveland Clinic for Gardner Syndrome Research, or to the family.  The family has entrusted Schlosser Funeral Home & Cremation Services to handle the arrangements.
