Carolyn M. Moots, 86, formerly of Cridersville, passed away at 2:27 p.m., Thursday, April 10, 2025 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst, NC. She was born on September 4, 1938 in Moulton Township, Auglaize County, to Richard F. and Olinda F. (Kreitzer) Oen who have preceded her in death. On October 13, 1956, she married Jack Dean Moots, who passed away on March 11, 1997.
Survivors include their five children, Eugene W. Moots, of West End, NC, Randy R. (Amira Swan) Moots, of Florida, Steven A. (Cheryl Freymuth) Moots, of Lima, Tammy L. Moots, of West End, NC, and Deborah L. Drexler, of Lima; seven grandchildren, Adam, Sidney, Garrett, Alyssa, Colten, Crystal, and Moises; two great-grandchildren; nine siblings, James Oen, of Wapakoneta, Alice Wenning, of VanWert, Martha Lange, of Wapakoneta, Joan Oen, of Sidney, John Oen, of Sidney, Gary Oen, of Wapakoneta, Jane Jarrett, of Wapakoneta, Nancy Sanford, of Georgia, and Ron Oen, of Georgia; and an extended family of nieces and nephews.
Carolyn was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Steven Drexler; grandson, Zachary; and seven sibling-in-laws, Eva Oen, Irene Oen, Jerry Wenning, Louis Lange, Paul Quellhorst, Bob Jarrett, and Henry Sanford.
A graduate of Wapakoneta High School, Carolyn worked at I & K Distributors, Delphos and as a nurse's assistant in several nursing homes in the Wapak area. While living in California, she loved working at L.A.R.C. Ranch, where she assisted developmentally disabled individuals live their best life. Locally, she was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Wapakoneta and St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, Lima.
Remembered as a kind soul, Carolyn was devoted to her family and loved time with her friends. She never tired of playing with her grandchildren and was usually the first one to get down on the floor with them, or bundle up to go out in the snow. Her quiet moments were spent reading or enjoying a movie.
A Mass of Christian Burial will begin on at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, April 25, 2025 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, Lima. Father Kent Kaufman will officiate. Interment will follow later that afternoon at 2:30 p.m. in Elm Grove Cemetery, St. Marys. Family and friends may visit from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, April 24, 2025 at Schlosser Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Wapakoneta, where a parish vigil service will begin at 6:45 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson's Foundation, L.A.R.C. Foundation, or the American Cancer Society.
