Jean Ellen Manuel

Jean Ellen Manuel, 84, of Botkins, passed away at 2:01 a.m., Thursday, June 18, 2026, at her residence surrounded by her daughters and sister.

She was born on September 1, 1941, in Urbana, IL to Louis and Lucille (Brown) Rasmussen who preceded her in death. On May 12, 1962, she married Michael Manuel and he passed away on January 22, 2010.

Survivors include 3 daughters; Janet (John) Bergman, Julie (Leo) Schmerge, both of Botkins, and Jeanne (Jeff) Brown of Wapakoneta; 13 grandchildren Derek (Sarah) Bergman, Kyle (Mackenzie) Bergman, Andrea Bergman, Trenton (Amanda) Bergman, Alex (Megan) Bergman, Andy (Breanna) Schmerge, Tyler (Jenny) Schmerge, Brent (Brooke) Schmerge, Kaitlyn (Roger) Miller, Amanda Brown, Nathan (Mikayla) Brown, Xavier (Maddie) Brown, Nolan (Triniti) Brown; 19 great-grandchildren Cole, Bennett, Lucy, Knox, Will, Brooks, Avery, Ivan, Sophia, Gavin, Eva, Stella, Gwen, Camden, Carly, Cohen, Paxton, Callan, and Hosea; a sister Judy Thomas, and in-laws Linda Rasmussen, Jerry (Pat) Manuel, Mark (Carla) Manuel, Becky (Jim) Hand.

She was preceded in death by 2 brothers: Johnny Rasmussen and Jerry Rasmussen, in-laws Janet Manuel and Steve Thomas, and nephews Marty Thomas, Erik Rasmussen, and Tyler Wilson.

Jean enjoyed golfing and sewing. She even had the pleasure of making a daughter's wedding dress. She worked beside her husband as a secretary at Fertilizer Dealer Supply in Botkins. Most of all she loved spending time with all her grandchildren. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, Botkins.

Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 25, 2026, at Immaculate Conception Church, Botkins with Rev. Sean Wilson officiating. Burial will follow at Immaculate Conception Cemetery. Family and friends may visit from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday and 9-10 a.m. Thursday at Schlosser Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Wapakoneta.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to Immaculate Conception Church Organ Fund, Botkins Fire Department, or Grand Lake Home Health and Hospice.
