Jock A. Meier Sr., 65, of New Knoxville, passed away at 6:54 a.m., Wednesday, February 26, 2025 at Vancrest of St. Marys after a long illness. He was born on May 22, 1959 in Lima, to the late Paul M. "Pete" and Connie J. (Wahrer) Meier I.
He is survived by his spouse, Karen L. (Bower) Meier, and his three children, Emily Meier, of Wapakoneta, Jock A. (Karen D.) Meier Jr., of Wapakoneta, Annjaya (Spencer) Deardoff, of Celina; bonus son, Charles (Kelly) Dixon of St. Marys; three grandchildren, Dezirae (Dakota Mongold) Meier, Chandler Meier, Jacob Meier; two great-grandchildren, Oakley Mongold, Brynlee Mongold; four siblings, Paul M. "Mike" (Patti) Meier II, Joel (Patti) Meier, Todd (Deb) Meier, Josie (Mark) Schaub; six siblings-in-law, Teresa (Ken) Creech, Edward (Tammy) Bower, Dan Bower, Joe (Jill) Bower, Jarrod (Erin) Bower, Deana (Jeff) Redman; numerous nieces and nephews.
Jock was also preceded in death by his father and mother-in-law, Don and Doris Bower; and a sister-in-law, Jennifer Bower.
A graduate of Wapakoneta High School, he attended Apollo for auto body work. Jock had worked at General Dynamics in Lima and Crown, New Bremen. When not working, Jock enjoyed slicking back his hair before taking the family and his grandkids out, or cranking up his stereo system at home loud enough to be heard in every room in the house. His stereo was always on and you never knew what genre you would be listening to; he liked them all. He kept his hands busy by indulging in auto body work on cars and trucks, and was an avid hobbies inventor with a very creative mind and was exceptionally good at fixing things on the fly.
Above all, Jock was a family man. He loved spending time with family and friends as much as possible. He was truly a selfless giver that had a gift for making you feel like you were not an outsider. Jock made you feel like you belonged and never made anyone feel less than because they needed a hand. Humans or animals, he was willing to do whatever was needed.
Jock will be cremated and there will be no services according to his wishes. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Mercy Unlimited to continue Jock's legacy of helping others. The family has entrusted Schlosser Funeral Home & Cremation Services to handle the arrangements.
