Richard Alan Doty

Richard Alan Doty, 68, of Lima, passed away peacefully at 4:20 a.m., Wednesday, May 6, 2026 at his residence surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born on October 27, 1957 in Sidney, OH to Charles & Mary (Bowdle) Doty. After the loss of his mother as a young boy, he was loved and cared for by his step-mother, Dixie Doty. He was also preceded in death by his father and step-mother.

Richard graduated from Waynesfield-Goshen High School in 1976. After high school Richard joined the U.S. Air Force and proudly served his country for ten years. In transitioning into his civilian life, Richard worked for many years in the maintenance and electrical fields, retiring from Aunt Millie's Bakery in Sidney in 2022. Richard could be found spending time with family, and in his free time of helping anyone who needed it and he never knew stranger. He was a proud member of the American Legion Post #330.

He is survived by three daughters Amy (Kevin) Doty of Wapakoneta, Jamie (Eli) Staup, Jennifer (John) Schaub both of Lima; two sons Chad (Amber) Jamison of Lima, Chris (Megan) Jamison of Alger; 17 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; three brothers Tim (Kathy) Doty of New Hampshire, Chuck (Sally) Doty of Wapakoneta, Todd (Patty) Doty of Sedro-Wooley, WA; a sister Frances (Scott) Bowsher of Harrod and his ex-wife Terri (Tom) Marchal.

He was preceded in death by his sister Mary, his second wife, Valerie and granddaughter Olivia.

Richard was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 1:30-4:00 p.m. on Monday, May 11, 2026 at the American Legion Annex 214 S. Wagner St., Wapakoneta. A private family burial will be held at Walnut Hill Cemetery, New Hampshire with military rites begin performed by the Wapakoneta V.F.W Post 8445.
