Richard C. Rosenbauer

Richard C. "Dick" Rosenbauer, 89, of Wapakoneta, passed away at 3:29 p.m., Saturday, August 8, 2026 at Lima Memorial Health System.

He was born on September 9, 1936 in Columbus Grove to Raymond & Mary (Rampe) Rosenbauer who preceded him in death. On December 15, 1962 he married Sandy (Boyer) Rosenbauer and she survives.

Survivors include a daughter Lisa (Jeremy) Heckman of Wapakoneta, a grandson Connor Heckman, two nephews Douglas (Becky) Rosenbauer, Donald Steinke, four great-nephews, and a sister-in-law Donna Boyer.

He was preceded in death by a son Michael Raymond Rosenbauer, and siblings Robert (Joyce) Rosenbauer and Cornelia (Ronald) Steinke.

Dick was a 1954 graduate of Cridersville High School. He was then drafted into the U.S. Army from 1958-1960 where he served as a Specialist in the Infantry. He was a farmer and retired from BP in Lima after 30 years. He member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Amvets Post #333 where he was a charter member and the American Legion Post #330. He was a life member of the V.F.W. Post #8445 where proudly served on the honor guard for many years. Dick loved antique tractors and was very proud of his 1955 Oliver Super 77. He was also a member of the Buckeye Farm Antiques and enjoyed hunting and fishing in his younger years.

Memorial services will begin at 12:00 p.m. Thursday, August 13, 2026 at the V.F.W. Post #8445 with Father Ethan Hoying officiating along with military rites being performed by the V.F.W. Post #8445. Burial will be at a later date at St. Joseph Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to V.F.W. Post #8445 Honor Guard or to St. Johns Volunteer Fire & Rescue.
