Sylvia was a 1947 graduate of Botkins High School. After marrying Urban, she settled into the life of a country housewife. She raised their children, while sewing clothes, canning from their yearly vegetable garden, and helping on the family's dairy farm. Sylvia was always putting home cooked and home grown meals on the family table, and she loved to bake. She also volunteered as a 4-H advisor while her children were in 4-H. Once most of the children were attending school, she received her real estate license, working for several firms in the area for 15 years. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Glynwood, where she belonged to the Ladies Sodality. Family was her most treasured gift. She looked forward every year to the Auglaize County Fair, where she could be found watching and supporting first her children, then her grandchildren, in their fair activities.
