William J. "Bill" Doty Jr., 67, of Waynesfield, passed away at 11:54 p.m., Friday, June 5, 2026 at Mercy Health-St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima surrounded by loved ones.
He was born on April 1, 1959 in Lima to William and Barbara (Coats) Doty. His father preceded him in death and his mother survives him. On April 29, 1983 he married Pamela Wagner and she survives in Waynesfield.
Survivors include three daughters, Ashley (Tony) Baber, Adrian (Brock) Whetstone, both of Wapakoneta and Ali (Dakota) Caster of New Hampshire; 6 grandchildren, Zach, Luke and Jacob Baber, Aidan and Lainey Whetstone and Watson Caster; a brother, Steve (Becky) Doty; a brother-in-law, Michael (Laura) Wagner; two sisters-in-law, Tami (Tracey) Stutsman, Ty Doty; a father-in-law Gerald Wagner; and several nieces and nephews.
Bill was preceded in death by a brother, Scott Doty; step-mother-in-law, Kaye Reilly-Wagner; and mother-in-law, Beverly Traucht.
Bill was a 1978 graduate of Wapakoneta High School and Apollo Career Center. He started at Wagner Overhead Door as a Junior in high school and in 1999 became owner with 49 years of service. In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and target shooting. He also played many rounds of golf, especially with his good buddy, Tim. More recently, he could be found woodworking or outdoors, especially if it meant he was camping. However, his favorite moments were those shared with his grandkids. He was a member of the Eagles Aerie 691, Wapakoneta.
A time of gathering will be held from 3:00 - 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 10, 2026 at Schlosser Funeral Home & Cremation Services. Burial of his cremated remains will take place in Walnut Hill Cemetery, New Hampshire, at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be directed to Uniopolis Volunteer Fire & Rescue.
