Barbara J. "Barb" Harrod

Barbara J. "Barb" Harrod, 90, of Wapakoneta, passed away at 5:05 a.m., Sunday, April 25, 2021 at the Lima Convalescent Home.

Barbara was born on March 16, 1931 in Clay Township, Auglaize County to Robert and Thelma (Smith) Thrush who preceded her in death.  In February of 1950, she married Clay Myers, and he passed away in April of 1959.  In September of 1960, she married Norman Walters, and he passed away in April of 1966. In May of 1973, she married Jack Harrod and he survives in Lima.

She is also survived by her children; Vivian (Michael) Swonguer of DeGraff, Jocelyn (Stephen) Arnett of Wapakoneta, Brett (Dana) Walters of Ada; 4 grandchildren, Nicole Boberg, Brock (Kylene) Swonguer, Krystal (Matt) McDaniel, Kody (Layci) Walters; 8 great-grandchildren; siblings Donna Faulder of Harrod, Evonne (Joe) Schnippel of Botkins, Carol Overholser of Lakeview and a sister-in-law Connie Thrush of Alabama.

Barb was preceded in death by a brother Roy Thrush.

Barb graduated from Blume High School in 1949. She retired as Postmaster at St. Johns in 1991, after 26 years of service. She was a member of Salem United Methodist Church, Wapakoneta, NAPUS, and Auglaize County Historical Society, where she served as chairperson of Century Farms in 1993, and again in 2003. Barb enjoyed collecting antiques, decorating for holidays, and loved playing cards. Her family always looked forward to her homemade noodles and candies.

Private family graveside services will be held at Walnut Hill Cemetery, New Hampshire.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association, 8180 Greensboro Drive, Suite 400, McLean, VA 22102.
