David J. Zwiebel

David J. Zwiebel, 73, of Wapakoneta passed away at 10:19 a.m. Tuesday May 2, 2023 at Mercy Health-St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima surrounded by his family. 

He was born on April 14, 1950 in Lima, OH to Punk & Gladys (Ruppert) Zwiebel who preceded him in death.  On July 25, 1981 he married Marlene Lenhart and she survives in Wapakoneta.

Survivors include his beloved cat, Isabelle; 2 children Julia (Steve) Curtis, Thomas David Zwiebel both of Waterford, MI; 2 sisters Becky (Glen) Walker, Barb Dunnigan both of Wapakoneta; 3 brothers-in-law and a sister-in-law Ralph Stoner, Joe (Judy) Lenhart, Diana Kantner, Rick Lenhart and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a sister-in-law Mildred Stoner; a brother-in-law Fred Kantner and a mother and father-in-law Herman (Clara) Lenhart.

Dave was a 1968 graduate of St. Joseph High School and a 1972 graduate of The Ohio State University.  A member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, he helped work the St. Joseph Festival for many years.  Dave was a member of Mensa, K of C 2172, F.O.E. 691 and Brands Lake Fishing Club, where he served as vice-president.  He retired from LaKing Trucking after 31 years, serving as a union representative for many of those years with the Teamster Local 908.  Dave was also a board member for the Auglaize County Crippled Children and Adults, where he worked the Tailgate for Cancer.  The biggest highlight of his life was getting to meet Buzz Aldrin.

Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 8, 2023 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Sean Wilson officiating.  Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.  Family and friends may visit from 2-6 p.m. on Sunday at Schlosser Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Wapakoneta.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Auglaize County Crippled Children and Adults.
