Demetra E. Rinehart

Demetra E. Rinehart, 89, of Wapakoneta, passed away at 9:48 A.M. on Friday, May 28, 2021 at Otterbein Cridersville.  She was born on August 17, 1931, the daughter of Raymond and Cleta (Mann) Schuler, who preceded her in death.  On April 5, 1952, she married George E. Rinehart, who went to be with our Lord on May 1, 2016.

 Survivors include her children, Sandra (Lou) Klopfenstein, Bruce (Susan) Rinehart, Alan (Randi) Rinehart, and Kim (Phil) Metz, all of Wapakoneta; 17 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; siblings, Donna (Alvin) Bollheimer, of Sidney, Wayne Kossel, of Jackson Center, Gaylord (Marilyn) Kossel, of Jackson Center, Harold (Nancy) Kossel, of Lakeview, and Marilyn (Doug) Oakley, of Jackson Center; and many nieces and nephews.

 She was preceded in death by her daughter and son-in-law, Pamela and Eugene Brown; siblings, Kate (John) Nischwitz, Charlie Kossel, and Marvin Kossel; and sister-in-law, Betty Kossel.

 Demetra was a 1949 graduate of Jackson Center High School.  She was a devoted farm wife and mother who worked alongside her husband, George, in building the family's Brown Swiss dairy operation, known as R-Hart Farms.  She enjoyed watching her children, grandchildren, and now great-grandchildren exhibit their livestock in many county and state fair competitions.

 Demetra was a woman strong in faith and very active in her church; participating in several Bible study groups and singing in the church choir.  She could always be counted on to supply cookies for Bible School and homemade ice cream for St. Mark's ice cream socials; which were very popular in the community.  Demetra volunteered monthly with bingo at Auglaize Acres and sewed many quilts, which were donated to the Lutheran World Relief Fund.  She enjoyed gardening, cooking, and preserving the fruits of her labors. Even her years at Otterbein found her sewing and sharing her quilts with family and friends.

 Demetra loved her family, her children, grandchildren and now great-grandchildren. You could always find her involved with their activities, especially being a spectator at their many sporting events.  She was a huge fan of the Wapakoneta Redskins and The Ohio State Buckeyes.

 The family would like to thank the staff of Otterbein Cridersville for the wonderful care and kindness they'd shown Demetra over the years.

 Services will begin at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at St. Mark's Lutheran Church on Geyer Drive.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.  Friends may call from 5:00 - 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at Schlosser Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Wapakoneta, and one hour prior to the services Wednesday at the church.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Johns Volunteer Fire & Rescue Department, St. Mark's Lutheran Church, or Otterbein Cridersville.
