Francis "Peanuts" Steinke Obituary

Francis “Peanuts” Steinke, 81, of Wapakoneta, passed away at 12:22 p.m. Thursday August 1, 2019. 

He was born March 23, 1938, son of Benedict and Alma (Brown) Steinke who preceded him in death.  On September 13, 1958 he married Jane (Williams) Steinke who survives. 

Other surviving family members include four children, Jeff Steinke, Anita Green, Paul and Linda (Webb) Steinke, Jim and Shelly (Mistic) Steinke; 15 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren.  He is also survived by brothers and sisters, Alfred and Erma Steinke, Rita and Lawrence Tebbe, Catherine Schmerge, George and Judy Steinke, and Mary Ellen Pauly. 

He was preceded in death by a brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Christine Steinke, two brother-in-laws, George Schmerge and Jim Pauly; son-in-law Samuel Green and daughter-in-law Jodie Steinke.

Francis was a life-long farmer and a retired iron worker, Local 290 Dayton, OH.  He was a charter member of the Buckeye Antiques, Grand Lake Tractor Pullers and member of many other organizations.  He was an active member of the Uniopolis Volunteer Fire Department until his retirement and also past president of St. Joseph Cemetery Association, as well as life-time member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

“Peanuts” especially enjoyed restoring antique tractors, remaining active on the farm, and his time spent with family. 

The family would like to express appreciation to the staff at Wapakoneta Manor, Cridersville Healthcare Center and State of the Heart Hospice for their comfort and care.

Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 7, 2019 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Sean Wilson officiating.  Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.  Friends may call from 3-8 p.m. Tuesday at Schlosser Funeral Home & Cremation Services.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church or Uniopolis Volunteer Fire Department.
