Gary R. Denig

Gary R. Denig, 65, of Columbus, passed away at 1:42 p.m., Saturday, January 8, 2022 at his residence, surrounded by his children. He was born on March 7, 1956 in Columbus, OH to Jack and Shirley (Schultz) Denig who preceded him in death. 

He's survived by 4 children: Robert (Lisa) Zimmerman, Brandon Zimmerman, Krystyen (Kendrick) Galvin, Greggory Denig as well as 9 grandchildren: Cameron, Alyssa, Ethan, Kason, Caleb, Rhealynn, Grayson, Scarlett, Parker and a sister Trissa (Charlie) Chapman.

Gary was a 1974 graduate of Wapakoneta Senior High School and then attended The Ohio State University where he earned a B.S. in Psychology, Master’s Degree in Public Administration, Associate’s Degree in Accounting and a certificate in Long Term Care Executive Education.  He had previously worked as a Nursing Home Administrator in Kentucky, Missouri, and Ohio. Gary was passionate about providing the best experience possible for his residents and employees. 

Gary's most proud accomplishment was raising his children to be fantastic parents. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren; they were the lights of his life. His favorite pastimes included reading and studying the Bible, listening to music, cooking and shopping. 

In 2018 he received a life saving lung transplant that gave him an additional 3 years of life.  He was greatly loved and will dearly missed. 

There will be a funeral service and a time of sharing held at 12:00 p.m. Thursday, January 13, 2022 at Schlosser Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Wapakoneta. Burial will follow at Fairmount Cemetery, Uniopolis.  Family and friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
