Jane E. Bender

Jane Ellen Bender, 68, of Wapakoneta passed away peacefully on May 1, 2022 at 8:33 a.m. due to an extended illness.  She was born on August 20, 1953 in Sidney, OH to Ed & Rita (Soder) Wendel of Botkins who preceded her in death.  On June 2, 1973 she married Keith Bender who survives in Wapakoneta.

Survivors include her 3 children Libby (Wil) Sheets of Elida, Aaron (Ann) Bender of Wapakoneta, Brett Bender of Green Springs; 4 grandchildren Gage and Emmitt Henkener, Roan and Zane Bender; siblings Jean (Richard) Egbert of New Knoxville, Bill (Elaine) Wendel of Botkins, Janet Wendel of Mason and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by father and mother-in-law Howard (Berneda) Bender; a sister and brother-in-law Joan (Jack) Hindenlang.

Jane was a 1971 graduate of Botkins High School and then went on to graduate from the Ohio State Beauty Academy and was a hair stylist for many years.  In her free time, she cut many family members' hair and her payment requests were only a hug and a smile.  She retired from Findlay Industries/Wapak Products after 17 years.  She was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church.  She enjoyed being a farmer’s wife.  She loved cooking, gardening, sewing and going to craft shows.  Her biggest enjoyment was her grandchildren and spending time with them.

Jane’s wishes were to have a private family Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph Catholic Church, then a Celebration of Life at a later date.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Johns Volunteer Fire & Rescue or to the Auglaize County Humane Society.  All memorial contributions may be mailed directly to the Bender family at 13890 Kuenstle Rd., Wapakoneta, OH 45895.
