Kenneth Kohler Obituary

Kenneth F. “Ken” Kohler, 85, of Wapakoneta, passed away at 11:40 a.m. Sunday, July 22, 2018 at the Dayton VA Medical Center.

He was born on September 4, 1932 in Wapakoneta to Lawrence F. & Violet L. (Crouch) Kohler Sr. who preceded him in death.   On May 7, 1960 he married Hannah K. Egbert and she survives in Wapakoneta.

Survivors include two daughters,  Kenda Kohler, Jona (James) Limbert both of Wapakoneta; two grandchildren, Travis (Christie) Limbert of Columbus, Kayla (Paul) Lim of Louisville, KY; a brother, Ron (Sue Ellen) Kohler of Wapakoneta; two sisters-in-law, Susie Kohler of Wapakoneta, Kathleen (Charles) Freeman of Cridersville and a brother-in-law, Thomas (Kay) Egbert of Circleville.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Betty (Roland) Hollenbacher; three brothers, Lawrence “Spike” (Darlene “Dottie”) Kohler, Roy (Dorothy) Kohler and Edward “Ed” Kohler.

Ken was a 1950 graduate of Blume High School.  He served with the U.S. Army from 1952-1954 during the Korean War.  He retired after 30 years of service with the Ohio Department of Transportation highway department.  He was a member St. Paul United Church of Christ, Wapakoneta where he also played on their dart ball team.  He enjoyed bowling, coaching little league baseball, fishing, poker and baking as he was known as Grandpa K to all the girls soccer team, who he loved making cookies for their games.  He was also a member of the Wapakoneta Eagles #691, V.F.W. Post 8445 and he loved the Cincinnati Reds, Wapakoneta Redskins and The Ohio State University Buckeyes.

Memorial services will begin at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 28, 2018 at St. Paul United Church of Christ, Wapakoneta with Rev. Becky Sunday and Rev. Scott Fetter co-officiating.  Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery with military rites being performed by the V.F. W. Post 8445.  Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service in the Timmermeister Hall at church.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the St. Paul U.C.C. Scholarship Fund or Dayton VA Hospice.
