Lonnie K. McKinney

Lonnie K. McKinney, 79, of Wapakoneta formerly of Waynesfield, passed away at 4:25 p.m., Monday, October 2, 2023.

He was born on April 9, 1944 in New Hampshire, OH to Guy and Martha (Neff) McKinney who preceded him in death. On May 3, 1969, he married Linda M. Howell, who passed away on May 28, 2021.

Survivors include his four sons, Christopher (Monica) McKinney, of New Bremen, Michael (Tina) McKinney, of Anna, Timothy (Christina) McKinney, of Tipp City, and Aaron (Abby) McKinney, of Lakeview; 14 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren and a sister, Marilyn Morris.

Lonnie was preceded in death by a brother, Dwaine McKinney and a sister, Ila Wolfe.

Lonnie was a 1962 graduate of Waynesfield-Goshen High School.  He proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1964-1968 during the Vietnam War.  He retired in 2001 from Ford Motor Company after 30 years of service as a millwright.  He was a member of the Carpenters Union #372 and was also a part of the Carpenter/Millwright Apprentice Program.  Lonnie was a member of the Waynesfield American Legion and the Auglaize County D.A.V. where he served as commissioner for 6 years.  He was also a former member of Wayne Township Fire & EMS.  Lonnie's greatest enjoyment was golfing and woodworking.

Funeral services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 6, 2023 at Schlosser Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Wapakoneta with Rev. Jean Horn officiating.  Burial will follow at Walnut Hill Cemetery, New Hampshire, with military rites by the Wapakoneta VFW Post 8445.  Family and friends may call from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
