Marie C. Gerstner

Marie C. Gerstner, 96, of Wapakoneta passed away at 5:55 a.m. Monday, April 10, 2023 at her residence.

She was born on August 10, 1926 in Dinsmore Township, Shelby County to John & Anna Marie (Steinke) Greve who preceded her in death.  On August 24, 1949 she married Harold G. Gerstner and he passed away on September 8, 2009.

Survivors include 3 children Charles (Linda) Gerstner of Botkins, Anthony (Barbara) Gerstner of Lone Lock, WI, Brenda K. Gerstner of St. Marys; 10 grandchildren Priscilla Gerstner, Charles C. “Chris” Gerstner, Laurie Gerstner, Joshua (D’Anne) Gerstner, Jodi (Sean) VonQuerner, Danielle Gerstner, Michael Gerstner, Jr., Chad McCoy, Bobbi Jo (Rob) Briggs, Heather (Scott) Armstrong; 20 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild on the way and a sister Gertrude Kondracki.

She was preceded in death by a son and daughter-in-law Michael & Dava Gerstner; siblings Julius (Dorothy) Greve, Lawrence (Edna) Greve, Odella (Ardeen) Braun, Joe (Theresa) Greve and 2 brothers-in-law Joseph Kondracki and Bernard Gerstner. 

Marie was a lifelong farmer who enjoyed raising livestock especially goats.  She was an avid card player and enjoyed quilting.  She took great pride in her garden and loved to use the harvest in her cooking and baking.   She was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Rhine.  She was also one of the original members of the farmers’ market now located at Walter & Sons Meats.

Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 a.m. Monday April 17, 2023 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church with Rev. Sean Wilson officiating.  Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery, Fryburg.  Family and friends may visit from 2-6 p.m. Sunday at Schlosser Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Wapakoneta.
