Willis W. "Willie, Will, Moose" Vetter

1937 ~ 2021 (age 84) 84 Years Old

Willis W. “Willie, Will, Moose” Vetter, 84, of Wapakoneta peacefully went to his heavenly home on Wednesday, August 4, 2021 at his residence.

He was born on June 29, 1937 in Clay Township, Auglaize County to George Elmer & Iva (Metz) Vetter who preceded him in death.  On February 14, 1987 he married Joan (Mueller) McFadden and she survives in Wapakoneta.

Survivors include 7 children David (Kimberly) Vetter, Deanna (Brandon) Sawmiller, Stacy (Richard) Stevens, Scott Vetter, Theodore (Eileen) McFadden, Gregory McFadden, Melody (Mark) Meuller; 16 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren.

Willis was preceded in death by an infant grandson Brian Vetter and a brother and sister-in-law George E. (Virginia F. Powell) Vetter.

Willis’ life revolved around his family that he loved so much from fishing with the guys to going to this grandsons and great-grandsons sporting events.  He was their biggest fan.  Willis was a 1955 graduate of Blume High School.  He retired after 45 years with Plastipak Packaging in Jackson Center as plant manager.  He played fast pitch softball for Moulton until the age of 50, enjoyed golfing with lifelong friends and had a love and passion for fishing.  He also enjoyed going to South Carolina to vacation and fish with close friends and family from Ohio and South Carolina.  Willis never met a stranger and influenced many people throughout his lifetime.  He will be greatly missed by all.

Funeral services will begin at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, August 7, 2021 at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 10424 Geyer Drive, Clay Township, Wapakoneta, with Rev. Bob Brown officiating.  Burial will follow at the church cemetery.  Family and friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at church.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to the V.F.W. Post 8445.
