Bettye R. Johnson

Bettye R. Johnson, 96, of Wapakoneta, passed away at 4:02 a.m. Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima.

She was born May 4, 1921 in Allen County, OH to Robert and Mary (Settlemire) Augsburger who preceded her in death.  On February 22, 1941 she married Harold H. Gruebmeyer and he passed away on December 5, 1990.   On July 4, 1992 she married Robert L. Johnson and he survives in Wapakoneta.

Survivors also include a son; Jody (Beth) Gruebmeyer of Wapakoneta, a sister; June Augsburger of Lima, two step-children; Jeff (Karan) Johnson of Findlay, Stephanie (Dan) Artman of AZ, four grandchildren Delilah Rowland of PA, Robert and Nathan Gruebmeyer both of Cincinnati, Lindsey (Jarius) Cobb of London, England, two great-grandchildren; Cadence and Cheyanne Rowland both of PA and a niece; Cheryl (Jim) Gossard of Harrod.

She was preceded in death by a sister; Mary Martha Miller.

Bettye attended Lima Central High School.  She worked at Westinghouse Corp. for 20 years and then Pyropak Manufacturing, New Knoxville.  She was a 40 year member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #691, Ladies Auxiliary.  She was an avid reader and always left a lasting impression on everyone she met.

Funeral services will begin at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 11, 2017 at Schlosser Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Wapakoneta with Pastor Gary Bragg officiating.  Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Lima.  Friends may call from 2-6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
