Milo Wellington, 89, of Wapakoneta, passed away at 2:50 a.m. Saturday, September 30, 2017 at his residence.
He was born on October 23, 1927 in Wapakoneta to Eldon & Marie (Saddler) Wellington who preceded him in death. On June 11, 1988 he married Brenda Swaney and she survives in Wapakoneta.
Survivors also include 4 children; Michael Wellington of Grove City, OH, Lisa Wellington of Bloomingdale, IL, Rob (Nicole) Rhoad of Ruskin, FL, Jillian (Matt) Wallace of Wapakoneta, 7 grandchildren Timothy Rhoad, Kasen and Nolan Wallace, Halle, Hope, Hunter, and Harper Swaney as well as his sister Betty (Wellington) Shappell. In addition, there are 3 step grandchildren Abigail, Belle and Chloe Rhoad and one step great-grandchild David Rhoad.
He was preceded in death by his first wife; Nancy (Abe) Wellington; 3 brothers William, Rollin, and Charles Wellington; and 2 sisters Delores Bartenstein and Evelyn Wellington.
Milo was a 1947 graduate of Blume High School. He then enlisted in the U.S. Army where he served as a pharmacy technician. After, he attended Ohio Northern University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in pharmacy. He worked at Rhine & Brading as a pharmacist until 1966 and then at Lima Memorial Hospital for over 25 years. He was a member of the Wapakoneta Lions Club, Hamer Lodge #167, F. & A.M. where he earned his 33rd Degree of the Scottish Rite. He was also a member of St. Paul U.C.C. where he served on church council. He enjoyed wood working, gardening and was an avid sports fan who especially loved The Ohio State Buckeyes.
Funeral services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, October 5, 2017 at St. Paul U.C.C., Wapakoneta with Rev. Becky Sunday officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery with military rites being performed by the V.F.W. Post 8445. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Schlosser Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Wapakoneta.
