I am so saddened and heart broken by Melissa passing. Melissa was a ray of sunshine. She brought that ray of sunshine into my life many years ago. I loved her so much. She was amazing and one of the strongest women I knew. She touched so many lives. I know she touched mine. She loved her boys and you Sean so much. Doug and Cindy and Reed she talked about you all the time. She loved you so much. May God wrap his loving arms around you and give you comfort and peace in this sad and difficult time. We lost a beautiful soul and God gained an Angel. You are in my thoughts and prayers everyday. God Bless you all.

Melissa was one of the warmest, kindest, and most welcoming people I have ever met, and the world is better for having had her in it. She was a champion for diversity, and cared deeply for our students. She will be tremendously missed, and Sean, my prayers are with you, your boys, and your family.

Melissa was my first pitching recruit as a Head Coach at Ohio Northern. I truly enjoyed watching her play and interact with her teammates. I still remember the day she committed to come play for us. My condolences to the entire family.

Melissa was a kind soul and always greeted everyone with a smile. Her positive attitude was still evident, even as she struggled with cancer. I feel privileged to have known Melissa and grateful I was able to connect with her during her illness to thank her for her service to the campus community. Sean, I wish you and the boys peace and comfort.

As I think about the words to write it is so difficult to express just how deeply Melissa touched my life.
There are some here who remember and knew her as the wapakoneta lady skins pitcher, teammate and classmate. Others from her time playing college ball.
I was lucky enough to watch her grow up as one of her coaches for the American Legion summer league team...from the Dads pitching to the girls, to the girls taking over and pitching... Melissa was our pitcher for many of those years, she was not only an extraordinary pitcher she was a team player, kind, caring, a leader for the team. She strove for excellence and did it all while enjoying the game and life to the fullest.
You Melissa, played a fantastic game. Rest easy now sweet Melissa.

Coldiron and Stemen families, I am so sorry to hear of Melissa’s passing. I had the privilege of playing softball with her at ONU and the grit and determination that she brought to every situation was admirable. And watching her fight this battle was inspiring...so much courage and hope. Your families are in my prayers!

Sending my deepest sympathy to the Stemens, her husband and boys. Melissa was a great classmate and teammate. She was always smiling and dedicated to her team and the game of softball, and inspired me to be the best player I could be. Most of my softball memories include Melissa, and they are some of the memories I cherish most in life. She was such a strong person and fighter, I know she fought this last battle in her life with everything she could. She touched so many lives, and I know she will be missed and remembered fondly by many.

Melissa was truly a beautiful person and was a joy to work with as she was so uncommonly kind to all that she met. She was a strong woman...not afraid to stand up for what she believed in and I had an enormous amount of respect for her. I am so sad to see that she has gone. All of my love and prayers to Sean and the boys and the rest of the family of this truly, extraordinary woman.
